Regarded as one of the most mature and accomplished interpreters of his generation, Pierre-Arnaud Dablemont belongs to a certain class of pianists; discreet but passionate, for whom piano represents a real philosophy of life.
His musical start may seem unusual compared to many of his peers. Not a prodigy child, he began to play the piano quite late, his parents were not musicians and no one listened to classical music at home. His passion for music comes from deep within himself.
He was born on November 14th, 1979 in Champigny-sur-Marne in the suburbs of Paris and spent his childhood near the sea, on the long, sandy beaches of northern France.
Keen to learn, a curious person, his extensive musical knowledge was mainly self-taught. « The radio plays an important role in my music education. It helped me explore classical repertoire, of course, but also contemporary works. I listened to everything I could get my hands on, I borrowed a lot of discs from the library, I was and I still am a musicoholic. »

Pierre-Arnaud Dablemont received his first piano lessons at the age of nine. Showing a talent for music, he started a few months later at the conservatory of Boulogne-sur-Mer where he studied piano under Véronique Menuet-Stibbe.
After his secondary education in a religious institution, he opted for mathematics all the while pursuing his piano studies at the Lille Conservatory with Marc Lys. Three years later he chose to devote himself exclusively to the piano and moved to Paris where he studied under Francoise Thinat at the Ecole Normale de Musique, and later under Hugues Leclère. In 2004 he was admitted to the Prague Conservatory where he studied with the Czech pianist František Maxián, a disciple of Sviatoslav Richter. He left the school in 2009 to fully dedicate himself to his favorite repertoire.
His musical research has led him to very different teachers and aesthetics, going beyond the beaten paths of the usual conformist thinking and giving him a particular view on the works he interprets.”I have tried various approaches, multiplied the teachers to break free from their influence.” he says. “This continuous confrontation with different views has enhanced my ability to think critically and forced me to draw deep within myself to justify my choices.”
Particularly renowned for his interpretations of the repertoire of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, Pierre-Arnaud Dablemont is held in high regard among soloists. Passionate about the contemporary music scene since his childhood, he wants to convey his passion through his master classes and concert-lectures. Creating new works and supporting young composers, the French pianist participates actively in the expansion and promotion of contemporary piano repertoire.
Recital is his favorite exercise, the most appropriate music space for expressing his exactness and his keen sense of perfection. Since his debut in 1996, his concerts have taken him throughout Europe and Northern America, always with the same passion and renewed pleasure for sharing his vision of music with the audience.

Since childhood Pierre-Arnaud Dablemont has developed a special affinity with the music of the twentieth century. He began learning at a very early age from Faure’s, Debussy’s and Ravel’s music, before exploring the Second Viennese School and atonal music.
As a teenager he discovered that which was to influence his whole career; the music of Olivier Messiaen. This introduced him to the Avant-Garde and led him to the music of our time, which has become an essential part of his repertoire and personality.
For Pierre-Arnaud Dablemont music must remain associated with the notion of play and what he enjoys most is today’s music : playing to deconstruct, demolish, rebuild. His passion for structures and processes, derived from his interest in mathematics, helps him to reveal the essence of a piece and to deliver a true interpretation. Showing the beauty of a work, such is his credo.
The game can sometimes be similar to research: learning new playing techniques, designing new sounds, working with high-technology tools for example.
Through master classes and concert-lectures, the pianist attempts to guide you into the world of contemporary music. Pierre-Arnaud Dablemont endeavors to make you feel the beauty of a repertoire so often maligned and misunderstood by those who do not take the time to appreciate its richness.
If not at the piano, you will certainly find him in his second laboratory: the kitchen. As a connoisseur of fine wine and cuisine, Pierre-Arnaud likes to meet his friends around good wine and good food. “I love cooking and enjoying a good wine. Music, food and wine, all of these are closely connected, it is all about finding the delicate balance to reach the masterpiece. ”
A past master of color, he cleverly measures out his pigments so as to bedazzle us with golden tones or make us feel the dark of a morbid torment. It is alone with his piano that he likes to introduce us to his world. To achieve this delicate balance of sounds, he draws his inspiration from literature or painting, and last but not least, from the inner emotional life that he only reveals once on stage.
